Students have the option to study for 5 academic years (with the option of doing a Master), thereby earning the official qualification of the University Bachelor Degree (4 years) and a Master specializing in the chosen area (1 year). Bilingual tuition This Bachelor Degree is completely bilingual, with over 70% of the courses taught in English. As such, students are required to have a minimum level of B2 to be able to follow the classes given in English. 75% of the students at our Tourism School are international, while over 50% of our faculty has international professional experience. Moreover, Ostelea gives our students access to an online interactive English course free of charge. The course is designed by professionals and is published by Grupo Planeta.Students can complete independently and voluntarily throughout the degree program. The English course consists of four levels: Elementary, Intermediate, Lower Intermediate and Upper intermediate. This enables each of our students to make progress and track their language learning in a fully personalized way. Curricular internships The students on the Bachelor Degree have the opportunity to do an internship (compulsory) throughout each of the 4 academic years of the program. Ostelea enables you to gain experience in leading companies in the tourism and leisure sector, thereby improving your experience and professional CV, which will set you apart when competing on the labour market. Ostelea currently works with over 2,000 companies in the Tourism and Hospitality sector, including leading multinationals such as Hilton, American Express and Lonely Planet. Training objectives of the curricular internships At Ostelea, the curricular internships aim to ensure that the student manages to consolidate and apply the knowledge and skills covered the course. These compulsory internships require a Training Project and a co-tutor in the company in which the intern is placed. In addition, they are supervised by an academic tutor and account for 30 ECTS credits spread across the four years (6 credits each year in the first three years and 12 credits in the fourth year. Mobility programs Students of the Bachelor Degree in Tourism and Leisure, majoring in Tourism Company and Destination Management has access to the following mobility programs within Spain: The SICUE program: a national program that takes its inspiration from the Erasmus experience to facilitate the Exchange System between Spanish universities. The SICUE program enables exchanges between students from different universities in Spain. The DRAC Program: the main aim of the DRAC program is to empower the mobility of the university community of the institutions that form the Xarxa Vives d'Universitats, a network of universities of in Catalonia, Valencian Community and the Balearic Islands, as well as the University of Andorra and certain higher education institutions in southern France. The Stella Program: the Stella program of Compostela the Group of Universities enables students to do internships at other universities within and outside Spain. Ostelea has a Director of International Projects (DIP), who plays a key role in our students’ mobility. The International Project Director is responsible for giving students guidance when choosing destination and courses, as well as managing agreements between educational institutions. At Ostelea, we evaluate the mobility options of the Bachelor Degree as a whole in three-year cycles, placing greater emphasis on international mobility, taking into account both academic and training aspects, the satisfaction of our students, teachers and the academic or business partner. Our School assesses all the aspects related to administrative management (before and after the completion of the placement, with particular attention paid to credit recognition mechanisms). Who can take part in our mobility programs? The mobility programs that Ostelea runs for its students on the Bachelor Degree in Tourism and Leisure majoring in Tourism Company and Destination Management are open to students from the third year of the program onwards. The current regulations of the UdL in this regard allow students to take part in mobility programs if the academic nature of the internship requires it, and if the academic internship takes place during the summer or other holiday periods. The International Projects Department, coordinated by the IDP responsible for the School’s internships and in constant collaboration with the International Relations Office of the Universitat de Lleida, regulates and manages all the agreements with foreign universities to effectively manage the entire operation. Likewise, the International Projects Department is responsible for overseeing the procedures with companies and institutions in other countries and will be in charge of managing both the internships and, if necessary, the mobility grant program chosen by the student from our School. The following procedure is established for international mobility at Ostelea in related to internships on the Bachelor Degree in Tourism and Leisure, majoring in Tourism Company and Destination Management: at the beginning of the academic year, our School publishes the list of internship places that which our students can apply for, as well as the universities, companies and foreign institutions available. Ostelea also specifies the location, training objectives of the internship, its duration, the co-tutor, the evaluation procedure and all other factors that are relevant for the students. If the internship takes place outside the school term, the student must take out supplementary insurance if required. Therefore, the way that they are organized may vary from this general model. Tourism Skills Development Program (TSDP) Ostelea is proud to offer this exclusive program for its students, developed together with many of the most innovative organizations on the market. The Tourism Skill Development Program is designed to strengthen students' competences and skills in different areas, such as executive and leadership skills, coaching, emotional and speaking intelligence, non-verbal language, improvisation management, stress management through yoga skills etc. *These activities are run on the condition that 15 students register.
